We have made a big change to our drawer units. You will notice that the drawer unit now comes with 4 drawers rather than the 5 drawers we used to offer. The reason for the change, We have moved away from the top-hung drawer system that we have been using over the last 15 years and have moved to a completely different drawer system which has been specifically designed for the wardrobe industry.
The new drawer system is an under-mount drawer system based on the under-mount drawer systems you see in most new kitchens. But whereas the kitchen drawers use what is called a double wall drawer slide the new system uses a thin wall drawer system so where as in a kitchen drawer the runners are quite large and tapered in from the bottom this new system has a vertical side which maximises the space inside of the drawer giving a bigger capacity drawer, They haven’t made any sacrifices with the drawer systems design as the new drawers are rated to up to 35Kgs per drawer. And with the undermount system, it give a clean uncluttered look to the finished unit. Another plus with the new system is the drawers are full extension rather than our old drawers which are single extension which meant that about a ¼ of the drawer box remained inside the unit when fully extended out. Full extension is exactly how it sounds, the drawer can be fully extended all the way out from the unit which makes getting say a jewellery box in and out of the drawer much easier. Our units are still constructed in the same way, All parts are made using 16mm White Melamine including the back of the unit and Drawer basses, and Drawer Backs. The best part of our new units is we have been able to make the change without increasing the price.
